Trainer Biography

Joel was born and raised in Saskatoon and developed a keen interest in sports at an early age. Learning to skate at the tender age of 6, soon it was hockey along with indoor soccer during the winter and baseball and soccer in the summer. Having been fortunate to play on a few Canadian National teams, Joel was able to travel to Japan and throughout Canada and the United States playing baseball. Joel’s step-father was a track and field coach, having coached athletes at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. This led to Joel excelling in sprints, hurdles and long jump.

Eventually, hockey was the primary sport in both winter and summer training. Joel went on to play for the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey league and one year playing semi-professional hockey in Louisiana before coming back to Saskatoon to get an education. He played for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies while earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Kinesiology. Other certifications include:
Certified Exercise Physiologist,
Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant
Sport Movement Specialist.

Joel is currently a sport and personal fitness trainer, working with people and athletes of all ages, sports and fitness levels. He had been a health and fitness trainer for over 10 years.  Sports are a huge part of his life and enjoys playing hockey, baseball, tennis, golf, squash and a very competitive game of ping pong with his wife Rachelle.
